Withdrawals from Canada

Money leaves the way it came in

The first thing the system looks at is your deposit history, because payouts follow the return path. If you funded by Interac e-Transfer, that is where the payout goes; if you used iDebit or Instadebit, the money returns through the same rail to the same bank account. Where several methods were used, operators normally refund each one up to the amount deposited and only send the remainder by the main method.

This is an anti-money-laundering requirement rather than an operator preference, which is why asking for a payout to a different account is the single biggest cause of delay in practice. Cards are the awkward case: a credit card can take a deposit but often cannot receive a payout, so the balance is sent to a bank account instead and that account still has to be verified.

Verification: do it on day one

The standard file is a government-issued photo ID and a recent proof of address; some operators also ask for a bank statement header showing your name and account details. It is a one-time process that does not depend on how much you have played, and it can be completed the day you register.

The timing detail that costs people days: the withdrawal clock starts when your documents are approved, not when you press the button. Leaving verification until you have money waiting turns a few hours into most of a week, and it is the reason behind most complaints about slow payouts that are not actually slow payouts.

What the timing really looks like

A withdrawal passes through two separate stages. The operator's internal review usually clears within a business day. After that the banking rail takes over: an Interac payout typically lands quickly, while anything routed through a bank transfer follows banking hours, and weekends and statutory holidays do not count. A request submitted on Friday evening is processed on Monday.

Before requesting a payout, check whether any bonus is still active. An unmet wagering requirement can either block the withdrawal or void the bonus depending on the terms, and it is better to decide that yourself than to have the system decide it for you.
